Project Overview

The Magatle Internal Street Upgrade Phase 1 project was commissioned by the Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality to transform critical gravel roads into a tarred surface within the Magatle region. This initiative aimed to enhance accessibility, road safety, and overall infrastructure reliability for residents.

Shumba Engineering Services served as the main consultant, overseeing the entire lifecycle of the project from conceptualisation through to completion. The project was successfully executed within budget, time, and quality expectations.

Scope of Work

  • Land survey and site investigations
  • Construction of 2 km of road
  • Roadbed: Removal of unsuitable material to a depth of at least 450 mm
  • Layerworks
  • Final surfacing: 30 mm asphalt surfacing

Project Outcome

The Magatle Phase 1 road upgrade was completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. The 2 km stretch of road was successfully transformed from gravel to asphalt, improving mobility, safety, and access for the local community. The project met all technical and service delivery objectives.

Community Impact

The upgrade of Magatle’s internal streets brought lasting improvements to daily life. Safer, all-weather roads now connect residents to schools, clinics, and local businesses.
